Ukraine is the global sunflower production leader, but there's still room for the country to capture more value. Ukraine’s top customers, India and China, are rapidly expanding their imports of Ukrainian sunflower oil. However, Ukraine’s export prices have yet to reflect its reputation as a stable supplier. Some are encouraging Ukraine to create a national brand to differentiate its products from domestic alternatives in key international markets. The country’s exporters could capture an additional $50-80 per tonne for their sunflower oil if the branding campaign is successful.
