Netherlands, Milk Cow Supply, Milk Cow, Dairy Emissions, dairy industry, greenhouse gas emissions

Since the FAO issued its seminal report outlining how livestock producers can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30%, environmental impact from Netherland’s cows has increased by nearly 4%, driven by a sharp expansion in the country’s milk cow herd since 2006. However, dairy farmers can still breed a cleaner future. In fact, the FAO predicts that a reduction of over 10% is possible by 2030 provided the country’s dairy industry increasingly adopts less energy-intensive feed sources, improves manure management, and utilizes biogas generators among other technologies.
